Advance Your Career: Small Project Grants Information Session

This Advance Your Career session offers valuable insights on how to prepare competitive grant applications.

Create NSW is currently offering Quick Response grants ranging from $500 to $5,000 towards projects and professional development opportunities. Hear directly from their Arts Funding and Development Manager about the guidelines, assessment criteria and support material required for a strong application. This session will also be followed by a Q&A.

Are You Pulling My Leg?

Showcasing some of Australia’s funniest comedians with disability or who are chronically ill, this accessible comedy event boasts a hilarious line-up headlined by Bec Charlwood and featuring Robyn Reynolds, John Robles, Jamal Abdul and Lily Starr, and hosted by award-winning comedian Madeleine Stewart.

This event is wheelchair accessible and will be captioned and Auslan interpreted so everyone can get the punchlines.

Applications Now Open for ArtScreen 2022

This visual art project enables professional artists with disability or who are d/Deaf to develop new works which will be screened at the the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia to help celebrate International Day of People with Disability.

Two artists will be selected and will receive $11,500 in grant funding as well as a professional mentorship with experienced video artist Dr Zanny Begg. An additional $9000 of in-kind production support is available from our partnering organisations Bus Stop Films and Western Sydney community creative hub A.C.E.

Front & Centre: Initiative Supporting Arts Leaders with Disability

Congratulations to the twelve skilled participants selected for Front & Centre – a career coaching and professional development program for women and non-binary people with disability working in the arts, creative and cultural sectors across NSW, the ACT and Victoria.

This 10-month program aims to increase the representation of women and non-binary people with disability in leadership positions such as artistic directors, board members and senior positions in programming and management.

Sydney Olympic Park Artist Residency Announced

In partnership with Sydney Olympic Park Authority, Accessible Arts is delighted to announce Sharon Degeling as the talented artist selected for the four-week residency extended to NSW and ACT artists with disability or who are d/Deaf.
With a background in education, Sharon currently runs The Art and Craft Room from her studio in rural NSW, delivering workshops in both art and craft practice. Her own practice includes free motion sewing, as well as the incorporation of printing techniques and dyeing fabrics. This residency at the heritage-listed Newington Armory will provide a unique opportunity to work on her project ‘Invisible Illness’.

Innovative New Program Supports Disabled and Diverse Emerging Arts Leaders

We are excited to announce the eight successful applicants who will be undertaking paid internships as part of our Disability and Culturally Diverse Internship Program in partnership with Diversity Arts Australia. These exciting internships include specialised industry training and work experience at a range of arts, cultural and screen organisations across NSW and the ACT.

The legacy of this program will be a network of cultural access consultants who will help improve access to arts, culture and community events for people with disability from underrepresented culturally diverse backgrounds.

The Disability and Access Trainer is casual position responsible for delivering a range of training workshops surrounding disability and access. Our Disability and Access Consultants work with a range of clients to assist them in making their programs and services more inclusive and accessible
