ArtScreen 2022

Applications Now Open for ArtScreen 2022

Applications are now open for our prestigious ArtScreen 2022 program.

This visual art project enables professional artists with disability or who are d/Deaf to develop their creativity and careers through producing work in the increasingly popular format of video art.

Two (2) artists will be selected to create new works which explore themes of identity, access and social connectedness. Each artist will receive $11,500 in grant funding toward the production of their work and undertake a professional mentorship with experienced video artist Dr Zanny Begg. An additional $9000 of in-kind production support is available from our partnering organisations Bus Stop Films and Western Sydney community creative hub A.C.E.  Bus Stop Films will support the production of these works with students from their Accessible Film Studies Program available to work in crew roles where possible.

The two artworks produced as part of this program will have a World Premiere screening at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia in December 2022 to help celebrate International Day of People with Disability. Video art streaming service Prototype will also have an option to screen the artworks following their screening at the MCA.

“ArtScreen aims to broaden engagement with, and appreciation of, the distinctive insights and skills of artists with disability,” says Accessible Arts CEO, Liz Martin. “The MCA provides a high profile showing and creates a unique opportunity for artists with disability. Previous ArtScreen work has gone on to be further developed and selected as part of this year’s Cannes Short Film Festival.”

ArtScreen 2022 is being co-funded with grants from the City of Sydney and the NSW Government through Create NSW and in-kind contributions from Accessible Arts, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, A.C.E., Bus Stop Films and Prototype.
