Advance Your Career: Small Business Fundamentals

As part of our Advance Your Career series, we’re presenting a free online professional development session: Small Business Fundamentals.

Are you an artist with disability or who is d/Deaf with a business idea? Or are you looking to grow or develop your existing small business? Join us for a 3 hour online workshop led by expert trainers from Settlement Services International (SSI).

SSI is a leader in disability reform through creating opportunities for people with disability to contribute in all aspects of life: economic, social and civic. Their IgniteAbility Small Business Start-ups program facilitates business creation for people with disability or who are d/Deaf who are passionate about establishing a small business or expanding an existing one.

In this session you will learn:

  • The difference between a hobby and a business
  • How to assess the overall strength of your business or business idea
  • Your role in the business
  • The importance of effective business partnerships and how to connect

Following this workshop, referral into the SSI IgniteAbility program is available for free, one-to-one free support for workshop participants ready to start a small business or consolidate an existing one.
