Meet the Accessible Arts team – Kerry Comerford

Kerry Comerford is the CEO and is responsible for all aspects of the organisation ranging from the day-to-day operations to the strategic direction.

What attracted you to the role at Accessible Arts?

I have worked for many years in commercial entertainment, and I was keen to return to the arts sector. I have a particular desire to work in an area that can bring about change, and Accessible Arts felt like the perfect fit.

What do you do in your role?

My role is to oversee all aspects of the business and administration of the company.  I lead, develop and implement the organisation’s strategic plan, and develop opportunities for artists with disability to advance career pathways. I also build capacity for our stakeholders and the organisation.

What do you hope to achieve in your role?

I hope to build on the many years of great work by the organisation, and to identify new sustainable projects in partnership with mainstream arts.

What excites or inspires you about working in the arts and disability sector?

I love artists. I enjoy engaging with them, and where I can, supporting them to deliver their vision. I am particularly passionate about ensuring that the arts (and entertainment) are inclusive and accessible to all.

Do you have any hobbies?

I like to kayak when I find time. I love reading, travelling and I have a quirky obsession for vintage handbags.

Describe yourself in three words

Honest, caring and driven.
