Frame Shift – Stream Now Until 26 December

Frame Shift is now streaming via Sydney Opera House Stream.

This curated selection of ground-breaking films and video artworks by artists with disability or who are d/Deaf features 11 original works.

Ranging from the haunting to the humorous, these works amplify the collaboration of filmmakers and artists with and without disability to disrupt narrative, forge new creative futures and push the boundaries of experimental film techniques.

Frame Shift includes a new commissioned work by installation and video artist Amanda Bennetts, as well as celebrated ArtScreen artists Sofya Gollan, Dani Pearce and Demon Derriere, and Back to Back Theatre, Lily Drummond, Steve Anthopoulos, Lauren Orrell, Digby Webster, Jess Milne, Rubyrose Bancroft and Tanya Modini.

Curatorial Statement

This curated collection of video artworks showcases the creativity and artistic excellence of people with disability or who are d/Deaf through diverse works which have been directed, produced or written by disabled filmmakers.

Empowering artists with disability to tell their stories in their own way, this collection amplifies their voices and creatively. Through authentic collaboration between actors, crew, and creators with disability, this unmissable compilation collection underscores the crucial role of representation in every aspect of production.

Frame Shift celebrates intersectionality and reflects the diverse experiences within disability. Some of the works explore deeply personal perspectives and intimate experiences, while others offer levity and humour. Each work has been selected for its outstanding creativity, showcasing exceptional technical, and conceptual merit.

Through unique storytelling and experimental techniques, this distinctive collection pushes the boundaries of traditional filmmaking through creative access.
