This event is an online international exchange to explore access, representation and opportunities in the United Kingdom for artists and audiences with disability. Australian audiences will hear from a UK producer, two artists and curator to discuss best practice and innovation in accessibility for audiences, and professional pathways for artists with disability.

Featuring Cat Sheridan (Senior Producer, Unlimited), Rachel Gadsden (Artist), Suzie Lark (Artist) and Marcus Dickey Horley (Curator of Access, the TATE).

Presented in collaboration between Accessible Arts and Art Gallery of New South Wales. Supported by the UK/Australia Season Patrons Board, the British Council and the Australian Government as part of the UK/Australia Season.

About the Speakers

Cat Sheridan
Cat is a neurodivergent queer producer based in Glasgow and is the newly appointed Senior Producer for Unlimited, the world’s largest disabled arts commissioning programme. Unlimited’s mission is to showcase and support the breadth and quality of work by disabled artists to challenge the cultural sector and change perceptions of disability. Cat leads Unlimited’s programme team, with overall responsibility for the delivery of programmes, projects, and strategic partnerships.

Suzie Larke
Suzie is a visual artist and photographer based in Cardiff, UK. Her personal work uses conceptual photography to explore themes of identity, emotion, and the human condition. Suzie is interested in representing an internal state rather than capturing a moment in time. She creates images that challenge our notion of reality – combining photographs to present a single untampered image that simultaneously defies logic.

Rachel Gadsden
Rachel is a British multi-award-winning visual and performance artist who exhibits and performs nationally and internationally. Expressionist in approach, she creates solo exhibitions, performances and collaborative social engagement art projects with disabled, vulnerable, and mainstream individuals and communities, through painting, performance, digital film, and animation, with the object of developing cross-cultural dialogues considering universal notions of humanity. Her artworks are represented in private and major art collections across the Globe.

Marcus Dickey Horley
Marcus works within the Learning team at Tate Modern and Tate Britain in London, UK. His role is to create and deliver events to engage diverse and disabled audiences with the full range of Tate’s exhibitions and collection displays. Since taking up this position in 2006, Marcus has developed a range of programmes for Deaf and disabled visitors including Touch Tours, British Sign Language Tours and Events, and events designed to include visitors with a very wide range of disabilities.
