Discover 2018: For people with and without disability

Discover 2018 is a free nine-week program for young creatives with and without disability.

If you’re an art student, musician, writer, multimedia artist or creative person between the ages of 12 and 24 who wants to explore and possibly expand their arts practice, Front Up would like to hear from you! Read on to find out more.

Who is this program for?

This program is ideal for creative people who are interested in developing their current skill sets and engaging with peers, professional artists and educators to work towards furthering their art, education and employment opportunities.

What will participants be doing?

Participants will visit the Art Gallery of NSW and experience the William Kentridge exhibition – that which we do not remember.

They will also visit Artspace in Woolloomooloo where they will spend time with one of the resident artists.

Discover artists will ultimately create and have a final exhibition where they will present their artistic output to the community, their family and friends at the Front Up Hub. This will be on 3 December, the International Day of People with Disability.

How will participants benefit from Discover 2018?

Participants will:

  • Experience Art Gallery of NSW and Artspace exhibitions, meet staff educators and learn about creative practices
  • Develop teamwork skills
  • Build self-esteem and confidence
  • Meet like-minded people
  • Have fun along the way

What are the dates, times and locations for Discover 2018?

Discover 2018 runs for nine weeks from Wednesday 3 October to Wednesday 28 November. Sessions are 3:45 pm to 6:00 pm. In addition, the program includes a community outcome on Monday 3 December. The program is based out of Front Up at 9 – 11 Rowley Street in Seven Hills. Front Up is a short walk from Seven Hills train station.

What about parking?

There is drop-off parking at the back entrance on Bassell Lane. Or, park on Rowley Street and enter via the Ability Options office and take the lift to the first floor.
