Join Our Team of Accessible Arts Advisors
We’re looking for NSW and ACT-based arts practitioners with disability or who are d/Deaf to become Accessible Arts Advisors. As an Advisor you will work with us on various projects relating to disability, access and the arts, and we would draw on your expertise for various projects that we are involved with, with the aim of making the arts across NSW more accessible.
There are a number of ways in which you might work with us:
- Be part of a venue ‘walk through’ team, auditing a museum, gallery or performance from an access perspective
- Be part of a focus group looking at the accessibility of funding program guidelines and application form
- Join us as a guest speaker for a training session, sharing your story as a person with lived experience of disability
- Consult with Accessible Arts on your ideas and views on the programs and initiatives we offer, and the issues facing artists with disability.
Our core team includes artists and arts workers with lived experience of disability, but establishing a group of advisors will ensure that more people’s voices are heard new and fresh perspectives on access are shared. By joining us, you can have your say and influence the accessibility of the arts into the future.
Accessible Arts Advisors will be consulted on a casual, as needs basis, and all access requirements will be met to enable advisors to participate equally in projects. Depending on each project, Advisors may receive payment, travel support, free tickets and/or training opportunities.
If you’re interested in becoming an Accessible Arts Advisor, please email us for more information at info@aarts.net.au or call us on (02) 9251 6499.
